It's not a random pairing: Tumanyan was known to keep a carved samurai statue among his personal belongings, a small, easy-to-miss detail that pointed to a real fascination with the discipline and artistry of Japanese culture. Footnote № 001 turns that overlooked fact into the centerpiece of the design, right down to the brushed Japanese calligraphy and red seal stamp framing the piece.
