Temples at Artashat, Yeriza, and Ashtishat drew pilgrims across the ancient world. Plutarch recorded the sight of her golden statues when Rome encountered Armenia at its height — among the largest cult images of antiquity. When Armenia adopted Christianity in 301 AD, those temples were destroyed and the statues melted. Her name survived all of it.
