Product Description

Aramazd was the first. Before the heroes, before the battles — there was the father of the Armenian gods, the one who created heaven and earth. His name carries the Avestan root for wisdom, absorbed from Zoroastrian tradition and made wholly Armenian over centuries. Every deity in the pantheon descends from him: Anahit, Vahagn, Nane, Mihr, Astghik. He did not rule the world. He made it — the order from which all Armenian mythology flows.Archive I begins here because origin is not the same as beginning. A beginning is a moment. An origin is the condition that makes every moment possible. When Armenia adopted Christianity in 301 AD, Aramazd's attributes passed to God the Father so completely that no rupture was required. Only the name changed. What he represented — order, creation, the framework that holds everything together — turned out to be too fundamental to abandon. Carry it forward.
