The basalt columns at Garni Gorge formed from volcanic cooling — pressure, time, and heat working without intention toward near-perfect hexagonal geometry. Thousands of columns, each one fitted against the next, rising from the Azat River. Armenians called it the Symphony of Stones. The name is accurate: nature produced a structure that sounds like something designed. Nothing was.
